But the thing is, only by really being in this thickness, this take a deep breath and bite your tongue or nod and walk away time, will you appreciate the person they turn out to be. You look back and you almost can't remember how hard some of it was because they person they are now is so different and lovely and thankful that you hung in there with them. They know how they sound and act when they are going through it and to them, their life is so out of their control that they look to you to be in control because if you still love them and still show up and still believe in them, then maybe they can love and believe in themselves.
